Every site at Whispering Acres has full hookups: water, sewer, and 50-amp electric service. The electrical system was designed and installed by the owner — who has a nuclear engineering background and did the work himself — which means the infrastructure is built to code, sized correctly, and not the kind of patchwork wiring you find at parks that cut corners on setup costs.
Site pads are 20 × 60 feet — large enough for a 45-foot fifth wheel or Class A with room for two vehicles. You’re not squeezing in. You’re not parking your tow vehicle on the road. The pad size is intentional and it’s one of the things Phase 1 residents mention consistently when they talk about why they stayed.
Water is city-quality, maintained at consistent pressure. Sewer is direct-connection to on-site infrastructure — no dump station trips, no macerators. It works the way a residential connection works.
If you’re comparing campground sites with true monthly RV lots, our guide to RV lots for rent near me explains the difference and the questions to ask before moving.
Alabama averages more tornado deaths per year than almost any other state. This is not a distant risk — it’s the weather reality of living in the Deep South. An RV provides essentially zero protection in a tornado. This isn’t a scare tactic; it’s basic physics. If you’re living in a rig in Alabama and there are no storm shelters, your plan when the sirens go off is to drive somewhere — which is not a plan at 2 a.m. in the middle of a severe weather outbreak.
Whispering Acres has 4 EF-5 rated storm shelters distributed throughout the property, each tested against winds exceeding 250 mph. No resident is far from one. They are accessible without driving and sized for the full resident population — not two-person cabinets bolted in corners. When the National Weather Service issues a warning, residents walk to the nearest shelter. That’s the plan, and it works.
The fitness center was built and outfitted by the owner and is maintained on-site. It’s not a hotel-style room with two treadmills and a dusty cable machine. The equipment includes a functional trainer, free weights, and cardio equipment — enough to run a real training program without needing a gym membership in town.
For residents who work remotely or are retired, the on-site gym removes the decision to drive 25 minutes to a Planet Fitness every time you want to work out. It’s a five-minute walk from your rig. It costs you nothing beyond your site rent. For people who maintain a regular fitness routine, this is a practical benefit that shows up in monthly expenses — gym memberships in Montgomery run $25–$60/month on average.
The property has two stocked ponds — both fed by natural drainage and maintained as part of the property. The ponds are stocked with tiger bass and bluegill. Tiger bass are a Florida largemouth hybrid that grow fast and fight hard; they’re not the typical bream pond species. Both species are reproducing in the ponds, so the population is self-sustaining with periodic supplemental stocking.
Bank fishing is easy access from a maintained path, no boat required. The ponds are family-friendly — kids fish here regularly. There’s no fishing fee, no permit required on private property in Alabama, and no reserved hours. You grab your rod when you want and walk to the water. Residents who fish make use of this more than almost any other amenity on the property.
38 sites across 54 acres — about 1.4 acres per site on average. Most RV parks measure their amenities in square feet; this one measures them in acreage. The back half of the property is mature pine forest and open pasture connected by walking paths. These aren’t manicured hiking trails — they’re natural paths through working Alabama countryside that residents use to walk, run, let dogs off-leash in appropriate areas, or simply get away from everything for 20 minutes.
The site density is low relative to the total land area. Sites are not packed together. Privacy between rigs is real, not theoretical. If you’ve spent time in high-density urban campgrounds where you can hear your neighbor’s television through their sidewall, the contrast at Whispering Acres is immediate. The land is the amenity. 54 acres is hard to replicate at most price points in central Alabama.
The park entrance is gated with a keypad and phone app access control system. Residents enter using a personal code or the app — no fumbling with fobs, no shared codes posted on signs. Visitor access is managed separately. Security cameras cover the entry and common areas. The gate is not just decoration; it controls who is and is not on the property.
More important than the gate itself is who’s inside it. Every adult resident at Whispering Acres went through a background check before moving in. This is non-negotiable and applied without exception. The result is a community where you actually know something about who your neighbors are — not just that they pulled in yesterday and are leaving tomorrow, but that they passed a standard screening process and intend to stay.
For long-term residents — especially those living alone, retirees, or families — this matters more than almost any other single feature. The character of a community is determined by who lives in it. We control that at the front door.
Background checks, owner presence, and resident retention are some of the strongest trust signals to look for before choosing an RV park.
The laundry facility is on-site, clean, and maintained by the park. Machines are operated via QR code payment — no coins, no scrounging for quarters, no trip to the bank to break a $20. You scan, pay from your phone, and it runs. The setup is simple and it works.
Full-timers who do laundry in-rig know that most RV washer/dryer combinations handle small loads slowly. The on-site facility is standard residential capacity — useful for the loads that don’t fit the rig, for washing bulky items like comforters and dog beds, or for residents who don’t have laundry in their rig at all. It replaces the need to drive to a laundromat in town, which at the nearest off-site option runs 20–30 minutes round trip and unpredictable wait times.
One of the practical obstacles to full-time RV living is mail. Residents staying three months or longer at Whispering Acres are issued a dedicated mailbox with a key — a fixed street address that works with USPS, FedEx, UPS, and Amazon. You can forward your mail here, update your address with the DMV, Social Security, your bank, your doctor. It functions as a real residential address because it is one.
Whispering Acres is pet-friendly. There is no monthly pet fee, no one-time pet deposit, and no pet rent. Pets are part of the household. A lot of RV park residents have dogs and cats, and charging an extra $25–$75/month per animal on top of an already reasonable site fee felt unnecessary. We don’t do it.
The property includes a fenced dog run — a dedicated off-leash area for exercise and socializing. Outside the run, dogs are leashed. This isn’t an arbitrary rule; it keeps the community consistent and it keeps dogs safe on a property with active vehicles and other animals. The 54 acres also means there is genuinely more room to walk a dog here than at most parks.
Pets welcome at no extra charge. Fenced off-leash dog run on-site. Open land for on-leash walking throughout the property.
Leash required outside the fenced run. Owners responsible for waste cleanup. Aggressive animals evaluated case-by-case.
Electric is individually metered at every site via a dedicated meter at each pedestal. Around the 24th of each month, we pull your meter reading and calculate your usage for the billing cycle. You are billed at the exact rate Whispering Acres pays Alabama Power — currently $0.19–$0.21/kWh depending on the month — with no markup and no service fee added.
A number of RV parks charge a flat electric fee (which benefits the park on high-usage months) or add a 20–40% markup to their cost as a revenue line. We don’t do either. You pay what we pay. If Alabama Power raises rates, your bill reflects that. If usage is low in a mild month, your bill is lower. The transparency is intentional: we designed the billing this way because it’s the straightforward way to do it.
There is no park-provided WiFi at Whispering Acres, and this was a deliberate decision. Shared campground WiFi in high-density parks is almost universally inadequate for real work or streaming. Rather than offer something unreliable, we don’t offer it at all. What’s available instead is more useful for most residents.
The property sits within range of a cellular tower that provides strong 5G service on Verizon and AT&T. Residents running mobile hotspots or cellular home internet on either of these carriers have had consistent results for video calls and remote work. T-Mobile coverage is serviceable but weaker in this corridor — worth testing before you commit to a T-Mobile home internet plan.
Starlink works exceptionally well here. The property is rural, the sky is open, and there are no obstructions from adjacent buildings. Several current residents use Starlink as their primary internet connection for remote work with no complaints. If you’re a remote worker and internet reliability is critical, Starlink on this property is a legitimate solution.

“We moved into the park about a week ago and we are extremely pleased with our new long term rental. The spaces are very wide keeping you from having neighbors right on top of you. It is meticulously kept and the owner is extremely helpful.”
“The size of each site is incredible compared to other parks… Peaceful country setting… Oh and the storm shelters never stayed in a park that has them and I am thankful this one does.”
“Robert and Rebecca are great people to work with. This campground rents by the month. No daily or weekly rates. We were there in a 41 foot Tiffin Allegro Bus. All of the sites are back in with plenty of space between each site.”
